Welcome to William DuGlass

Original Ideas. Handmade Beginnings.

I’m the artist behind William DuGlass, creating work inspired by street art, philosophy, psychology and the contradictions of everyday life.

I believe art can change how we see the world. Botticelli’s The Birth of Venus was remarkable for its time, presenting a classical goddess as an almost life-size nude. Michelangelo’s David became a symbol of strength and independence.

For me, art today should offer more than aesthetic appeal. It should change how you see the room where you first encounter it—and stay with you, shaping how you see every room you enter afterwards. That ambition guides my own work.

Every design begins with an original A4 or A3 concept sketch or painting, created by hand. This is where an observation, question or unexpected connection first becomes an artwork.

From that starting point, I develop a digital interpretation, exploring further possibilities in colour, texture, atmosphere and detail. Who better to reinterpret my work than the artist who created it?

There are three ways to own my work:

  • A4 or A3 originals — the original handmade concept sketches or paintings, available while unsold.
  • Canvas prints — physical canvas prints of my digitally developed artwork.
  • Bespoke commissions — individual pieces created using traditional techniques, with prices on enquiry.

My handmade originals are simpler and less detailed than the digital versions. The A4 and A3 pieces capture the first expression of the idea, while the digital artworks develop it further. Bespoke commissions also follow my traditional approach. Each handmade original carries an authentication mark.

My aim is to create art that rewards a second look—work that brings feeling to a room, starts a conversation or reveals something new over time.
